About this mezcal

La Tierra de Acre Tepeztate is made with 25-30 year old Maguey Tepeztate (Agave marmorata). Maestro Mezcalero Honorato Cruz mills the agave by tahona, ferments with spring water, and double distills in a 250 liter copper still.

La Tierra de Acre Mezcal

La Tierra de Acre Mezcal began as a bootleg operation in 2017 (originally called Acre Mezcal), tucked away in the foothills of San Jose del Cabo at Acre Baja, a lush sanctuary set on 25 acres of greenery. The brand is related to the Acre Baja resort, which features elegant treehouses, organic farms, private event spaces, and an award-winning bar and restaurant.

In 2021, the brand raised money via the StartEngine platform at a $10 million pre-money valuation. Later they rebranded from Acre Mezcal to La Tierra de Acre Mezcal

A pretty good Tepe but the more I drink it the less impressed I am. Bell peppery nose and mouth as you’d expect but not overly complex. Bought this bottle in Cabo at Acre after getting turnt during dinner lol it’s a good bottle but for the $130+ price tag, it was more of an impulse purchase and there’s not really a lot of good mezcal in Cabo so it’s somewhat worth it for that reason. However, the cenizo is much less in terms of cost and pretty solid as well– completely different flavor profile obviously but more bang for your buck and a decent sipper. I would for sure recommend checking out Acre though and sampling the mezcal. great vibe and experience.

Got a bottle from OldTownTequila, (their recommendation) fermented in Summer 2017, and drank throughout 2021. Mild with a bit of spicy and perfectly balanced flavor. Ordered another bottle for 2022. This is my current gold standard for Tepeztate
