Alipus XX San Andres Aniversario from Don Valente Angel was made with maguey Madrecuishe (Agave karwinskii). It is a single-batch to celebrate 20 years of Alipus.
Alipus Mezcal
Alipús was born in 1999, as a project of the Destilería Los Danzantes, with Don Joel Antonio and sons as the first producers, in San Juan del Río. Subsequently, Don Eduardo Hernández, of Santa Ana del Río, making Alipús Santa Ana mezcal; Don Cosme Hernandez and his son Cirilo in San Baltazar Guelavila, who make the Alipús San Baltazar mezcal; Don Valente Angel and sons, of Santa María La Pila, with the Alipús San Andrés mezcal. In 2013, Alipús San Luis was incorporated, made by Don Baltazar Cruz and sons, of San Luis del Río, and Alipús San Miguel, made by Don Felix García, Leonardo Rojas, and Tío Jesús in the Potrero Sola de Vega.

228 reviewsThis smells like what Madrecuixe would smell like in a smell’s dictionary. It’s got the bubblegum quality I find in most of Don Valente’s. I also get notes of cinnamon and lavender. The lingering finish is fresh rainwater. I can’t believe how many bottles were made of this, hopefully, it’s around for a long time.

705 reviewsBatch AE-XXSAV. Elegant. Beautiful. Lovely. Aromas of bubblegum, lavender, fresh flowers on the breeze, and a bit of moth balls. The palate is velvety with more bubblegum, vanilla, tobacco, and a touch of spearmint. This is seriously reminiscent of one of my all time favorite Madrecuishe, Mezcalero No. 16, also from Don Valente. This is just so soft and delicate.
