Contraluz Mezcal Añejo Cristalino is sourced by mezcalero Don Carlos León Monterrubio from producers in the Tlacolula de Matamoros region of Oaxaca. Don Carlos transforms the joven agave Espadin mezcal into an añejo cristalino. The mezcal is aged for more than 12 months in American oak barrels and then filtered.
Mezcal Contraluz claims to be "the only clear aged mezcal" and as of 2019, that seems to be true. Mezcal Contraluz is available in Mexico City other popular destinations in Mexico.
