Very vanilla forward and sweet on the nose. Palate is much lighter on the vanilla / sweetness but there’s notes of mint, slight smoke, & minerals. Light spices on the finish and short

Lot ES03-20. 2020.
Very forward aroma of vanilla followed by burnt rubber and some unidentifiable botanicals. Taste is mildly briney and mineral watery at the front, followed by a sigificant spike of vanilla, jackfruit, and bubblegum before finishing off with the addition of some peppery heat and a medium smokey finish. It’s interesting to me how the sweet notes intermingle equally with the peppery smoke throughout the finish instead of just dropping off midway as many do. As the sips mount, the wet stone is coming through more and more. This is downright pleasant.

Lot: ES02-20 (Batch Size: 2239/3600, Year: 2020)
Nose: Big time rubber. Vanilla. Citrus. Medium smoke.

Palate: Opens great – candy and marshmallow. Smoke builds in the middle and barrels its way through the finish and beyond. Mineral bitterness rivals the smoke in the aftertaste. The smoke is nice but it’s pretty abundant.

Nice roast on the nose, moves to a profile of orange peel/citrus notes with mint and roasted greens. Cooked agave, a slight hint of Crème brûlée and white pepper. Finish is moderate and enjoyable, easy sipper with a solid heat.

Sweet nose at first like marshmallow and vanilla. As it airs out a bit, the sweet fragrances falls back to smoke and burnt orange peel. Very clean and light taste. Citrus mineral water, walnut, peat moss, and agave nectar. Light body but not weak by any means. A really nice expression of Espadin and one worth sipping or mixing.

I was pleasantly surprised by this mezcal: a very soft aroma, very little smoke, and almost a smell of fresh green grass. Clean opening, followed a hint of mint with star anise and notes of plantains. It finishes almost as soft as it began, with just a lingering of spice. Very subtle smoke. This isn’t extremely complex but perfect for sipping on a hot and lazy summer afternoon. Lot: ES01-19. Bottle: 374/3600. 2019.
