Delirio Anejo

Delirio Anejo is made by Ricardo Gonzalez, a fourth generation grower and distiller. His work is supervised by mezcalero Fernando Santibañez.

About this mezcal

Delirio Anejo is aged for 12 months in new American white oak barrels that are slightly toasted and under the influence of the warm temperature of the region. This añejo possesses a robust aroma combined with notes of copal and mesquite used during the agave cooking and sweetness. Mezcal Delirio Añejo has a robust wood profile with soft fruity notes from the mixture of maguey Espadín and Madre Cuishe.

Delirio Mezcal

Mezcal Delirio de Oaxaca is handcrafted under the supervision of master distiller Fernando Santibañez. After 25 years of working for large international companies mass producing rum, brandy and tequila, Fernando decided to return to his roots in Oaxaca to make mezcal. His goal is to bring this legendary spirit to consumers around the world. Fernando personally oversees every step of the process to ensure the final product consistently meets his defined specifications. Delirio de Oaxaca reflects Fernando’s passion for making spirits by hand and with care. He is also responsible for Mezcal Xicaru and others.

Throw in half a star for the bottle alone. Nice on the nose with sugars and some spice at first. Caramel/vanilla hints at the back end. Wait a moment and let the taste settle and there’s perhaps touch of pepper even some fruits at the back of the throat. Repeat. The aging enhances some of the wood flavours – a bit more mature than the sharp (but wonderful taste) in jovens.

Very fulfilling Anejo. Strong butterscotch flavor on the front end that gets a strong powerful cinnamon spicy flavor of mesquite and slight caramel on the finish while tasting a slight blend of the espadin/Cuishe agave flavors. Very bold Anejo and one of the few that I prefer sipping neat and not on the rocks.
