About this mezcal

El Pintor Mezcal is produced in the town of Yautepec in Oaxaca. It is an ensamble of maguey espadin (agave Angustifolia) and wild maguey cuishe (agave Karwinskii). The harvested plants are cooked in the traditional earth pit, naturally fermented using the natural open-air yeast, meshed in a tahona, and then distilled twice in a copper still. The flavor profile mimics the aroma of the agave growing in nature.

El Pintor

El Pintor is a series of “author agave spirits” handcrafted by the world’s second certified maestro tequilero. The goal of the company is to create perfectly equilibrated spirits, using science and art to create unique blends. The company current offers a tequila and a mezcal.

Smokey. Super light. Tart sour. Some lime candy. The karwinskii makes it dry which is normal but the ABV is too low to give it a rounded sweet complexity. Seems like a mixer but the bottle design is like an expensive perfume bottle. $13/pour at a fancy beer garden in Mountain View, CA. Overall just not interesting.
