About this destilado de agave

Gusto Historico Tepextate Puntas from Emanuel Ramos was produced in Miahuatlan, Oaxaca, a region known for it’s high population of Agave karwinskii, but not so much for it’s Agave marmorata, like this Tepextate, which are even more scarce in this region of Oaxaca. The community of Mengoli de Morelos where Emanuel and his father Victor live and work has a population of just under 200 people. They are related to the neighboring Cortes family via Victor’s wife (Emanuel’s mother), Cleotilde, whose sister Cesilia is married to Felipe.

This batch from 2021 was only 50 liters, released exclusively for Astor Wines.

Nose is sweet and fruity. Strawberry jam, papaya,
Palate is super smooth, little alcohol burn, more fruit than aromatic like I’m used to from a tepextate. On the backend it does come into play a bit more. Sweet and a little subdued.
