Lot 01/19
Ripe tropical fruit and some brine on the aroma, followed by light herbs and vegetal (blanched then chilled green beans).
Flavor of ripe melon with Werther’s caramel candy. Slight coconut hits next. Honey and some green bean comes through on the retro hale. Ash smoke, but balanced. The 47% ABV is lingering but still allows flavor to develop after initial sip. Very nice Espadin for the low price point

This is a solid choice, especially for the price. The flavors are subtle notes of mineral and fruits. It doesn’t grab me as much as I would like, comes off a bit muted. Very light smoke presence, i’m sure this would be good in cocktails. Lote: ESP0101AR-01/18 from Pedro Hernandez in San Baltazar Guelavila.

Lot: 01/19
Nose: Slight tinge of grape Kool-Aid. Light smoke. Pretty light nose.

Palate: Sneaky little burst of cherry jellybean. On the hot side for a 47% ABV. The saline finish is just OK, has an artificial taste to it.

Loved this Espadin. Very minimal smoke, very minimal burn. Herbal aroma with some slight minty notes. Taste of cooked agave, mild earthiness. Will probably pick this one up again at some point.

My wife described it as having a minor bite, low smoke. Clean, light smoke a little bit of sharp alcohol taste. I felt similarly. A little caramel sweetness, a little alcohol heat. A drop of water brings out a little tanginess and maybe some smoke. Good.

Good green notes on smell and taste, but a bit too hot for my liking. I could see this being a great mixer (but still very good to sip neat) given the great cost. Some creaminess & pepper as well, and surprisingly a bit complex. I’ve been drinking tons of espadins (don’t we all), so my bar is a bit high on this agave type. Not bad at all + price = great value.

For me, a very good entry-level Mezcal, especially considering the price. Not the complexity of higher grade liquids, but still respectable nonetheless. I’d like to try others in this brand as this a good starter. Fair play, I’ll have this as my go-to Mezcal cocktail mixer for now, although I think for it to last In that place it needs a little more smoke. Lot 12/19

Thin on the palate – not a ton going on, but it’s pleasant. Melon, pepper, faint smoke. ABV feels about right.

There are several espadíns from Koch. The one I tasted was made by Israel Palestino (incredible name, btw) in San Juan Bautista Jayacatlán. Lot MK001/17JAY. It’s a beautiful mezcal with a plethora of tastes: marzipan, bell pepper, jalapeños, and more. A true delight to drink.

On the nose is banana and coconut. Very clean with taste of some sweetness to the espadÍn. Definitely some fruit flavors of banana and papaya.

First Mezcal, first love. Fruity sweetness on the nose. Some body and sweetness on the mouth. Coconut and herbs with smokiness that goes until the peppery finish. Great stuff for the price.

Delighted and surprised by this espadin. I picked up a chocolatey taste when sipped. And with grapefruit in a cocktail an excellent pairing. For the price point cannot be beat.

Well made, fresh, clean Espadin. A little salty, fruity, and floral. Frangipani flower, papaya, over-ripe banana, and brown sugar. A really nice Mezcal for the price.

Lotta veggies. Bell peppers, tomatillo, and slight jalapeno. Not much smoke. Solid espadin, great for the price. Finish is short and without any burn. Pleasant

Tried the last 7 batches.
This is consistency at its finest. Simply put, this is the best quality for price Mezcal you can find, period. The work of Pedro Hernandez is second to none, its versatility in the cocktail world is bound to make it the go to Mezcal or every bartender to be.
When the entry price of a brand is at the level of a most high end tasting Mezcal, you know you’ve set foot in the right place.
Simply amazing. Couldn’t recommend it more.
