Floral aromas, very light and aromatic smoke, a bit green bell peppers on the nose. Tastes of vanillin, carrots braised with pressed oranges and tarragon, jalapeño, boiled agave, some tropical fruits hard to decipher.
Well integrated alcohol and very nice, slightly viscous mouthfeel. The style reminds a little bit of Del Maguey’s Wild Tepeztate, but this is slightly sweeter. Excellent craftmansship, just a little bit short aftertaste and onedimensional for a full score. Lote MK005/17TEP

Lot MK001/14TEP, distilled 2014. I have had a bottle of this opened for a long while, hoping that it would mellow over time. But, alas, it hasn’t. It still has a very sharp, rough taste of burnt rubber and ash. There is some sweetness to counter that, but it’s not a pleasant drink overall. Leaves quite a pronounced burn in your throat.

Fresh floral notes on the nose, toffee sweetness which is in the initial followed by a coppery sharpness, slightly harsher then most, liquorice and a sweeter Muscato like chard smokey finish. (Very deep ?)

Give it slightly lower then 3, but would like to try again, might give a better judgment.

The softer side of tepextates, this Koch is floral was faint note of cranberry that finishes with peppery ash. Smooth finish with a lingering sweetness. Lot: MK003/15
