Los Cuerudos Reposado

Los Cuerudos Reposado is traditionally produced with agave Espadin and aged for eight-months in wooden barrels before bottling.

About this mezcal

Los Cuerudos Reposado is barrel-aged for eight months before bottling. It is traditionally produced in Las Margaritas by Petronilo Rosario Altamirano. It has robust notes of wood and cooked agave, with a light finish of caramel and a touch of smoke.

Los Cuerudos Mezcal

“Los Cuerudos” were an armed revolutionary group from the southern highlands of Oaxaca. They were named for their custom of wearing flashing leather jackets. Jorge Chagoya, the first link in the “Tradicion Chagoya” that includes Los Cuerudos and Donaji Mezcal, became the primary producer of mezcal in the region at age 17, and he joined the Los Cuerudos army to defend their lands from rival soldiers. Five generations later, his family still owns their land and they are still making mezcal. This is it.

I really enjoyed this one. It’s probably the most original/unique reposado that I’ve had. You can feel that it has been aged in oak with notes of vanilla and cookies but without overwhelming the notes of the agave and the terroir(mineral, apple, and artichoke). A great balance. Light yellow in colour.
