About this bacanora

Mazot Bacanora Anisado made using maguey Pacifica (agave Angustifolia). Anisado is a traditional flavoring used for festivals in the region, especially for Semana Santa (Holy Week). This family anise recipe is slightly sweetened with a lower ABV than what might be consumed locally. The flavoring is light enough that it adds a delicate balance to the bacanora flavor without overpowering it.

Mazot Bacanora

Mazot Bacanora is owned by Emilia Ezrre Becerra and her family. She is the matriarch and two of her sons, Manuel “Ramses” Chacon and Sinohe Chacon Ezrre, are the Maestros Vinateros who produce the bacanora.

Not sure what to say about this one. I expected worse. I’ve tasted pechuga mezcals in the past with stronger anise flavor (in a bad way). The anise flavor here is subtle and sweet. It gives the spirit a pink hue. I wouldn’t reach for a whole bottle but it was fun to try. Maybe you could use it in a Sonoran Sazerac? It’s kind of meh for me but I could see others really enjoying it.
