Memorable Tepeztate

Memorable Tepeztate is made with agave Tepeztate that can take more than 25 years to reach maturity in the wild.

About this mezcal

Memorable Tepeztate mezcal is made by Felipe Hernandez at his palenque in Las Salinas Coatecas. While batches may vary, this typically sits between 46-48% ABV. This is the most limited of all the Memorable releases due to the relative scarcity of agave Tepeztate in this region of Oaxaca.

Memorable Mezcal

Memorable Mezcal curates their mezcal from several fine producers in and around Miahuatlan, Oaxaca. They focus on the wild agave that grow in the region. Their releases may vary greatly per batch, as different batches of the same agave may be from different producers located in the same general region.

Very smooth for such a high abv. It leaves the tongue tingly. Usually I don’t think that Tepaztates are worth the premium, but this one is.

Intriguing nose, no alcohol vapours, just a perfumey pine and green pepper aroma.
Palate strikes with a bit jalapeño and sweet agave fruit, peppery pear, light smoke. Well integrated alcohol, the bottle was just opened, so it is probably well rested before bottling. Nice aftertaste

Production: 2018
Bottle: 240/533
Maestro Mezcalero: Felipe Hernández
NOM-O44X

A truly exquisite bottle. Aromas race out of the bottle: extremely perfumey with sea breeze and seaweed, and green bell pepper brine. Licks of lavender, green szechuan pepper, and faint hints of cinnamon. The green pepper is present but not overpowering. Slightly watery mouthfeel that leaves it cooling and refreshing on the tongue.

This remains one of my favorite mezcals I’ve tasted, and I cannot recommend it more highly.
