About this mezcal

Paquera Barril is made with maguey Barril in Ejutla, Oaxaca. The agave used in this mezcal are cooked in an underground pit oven, mashed by horse-drawn tahona, fermented in oak vats, and double distilled in a copper still. This is the Premium option of the three Paquera releases.

A low-priced agave Barril mezcal adjusted to 45% ABV; it is less than $70/bottle. I don’t get a ton of the grassy agave Karwinskii notes but I’ve also found Barril mezcals to be very different between brands. I’m not sure if I would guess this was a Karwinskii in a blind taste test. That said, it is enjoyable and has notes of apple peel, lemon zest, and vanilla bean. Lot PAQBJ450118
