Pescador de Sueños Pechuga

Pescador de Sueños Pechuga is made using the traditional "gusto historico" methods and recipes of Santa Catarina Minas, Oaxaca.

About this mezcal

Pescador de Sueños Pechuga is made by maestro mezcalero Felix Angeles in Santa Catarina Minas. Felix is closely related to the Angeles family that produces Real Minero and Lalocura. They all live on the same road and produce in a similar fashion. This mezcal is triple-distilled with agave Espadin and a raw chicken breast and fresh fruit are added between the second and third distillation.

Pescador de Sueños Mezcal

Pescador de Sueños Mezcal is a project of the Santa Sabia Distillery. They present unique collections of select mezcales in hope of rescuing the mysticism and folklore of this ancient Mexican tradition. The mythical emphasis of the brand shows in their name as well, which means “the fisherman of dreams.” They focus mostly on small-batch, rare mezcals that are exported mostly to Europe.

PSP-01, claw edition
Wet wool, sweet woodruff/coumarin, soy sauce, fried oyster mushrooms; aromas are discreet, but pronounced.
Palate: Papaya, blue plums, a toffee hint, braised wild boar, lightly smoked black tea, well rounded. Towards the long finish a bouquet of fresh and dried herbs opens up, slightly bitter but well balanced. Well integrated alcohol, very nice pechuga despite the touristy, fancy bottle (resembling a claw, not the one pictured here).

Claw Edition, batch PSP-01, distilled 2016, 47%. Fruity mango-like sweetness. Lots of cardamom, but not as spicy as many other pechugas. Honey and vanilla. Very creamy, this was clearly distilled in clay. Wonderfully soft and tasty. The finish is rather dry and a little bitter, reminiscent of the tannins in black tea. But, as with everything in this mezcal, also the bitterness is pleasant.
