Prolijo Mezcal

Prolijo Mezcal is named after the legend that after making mezcal, the makers would leave a cellar door open overnight letting Prolijo, the guardian spirit of mezcal, enter and taste the mezcal. In return, Prolijo would pour his essence into the mezcal, giving drinkers the gift to tell mesmerizing stories. Because the spirit of Prolijo lives in the bottle and by opening it, you free the Prolijo spirit that lives inside us all.

Prolijo Mezcal Blanco surprised me. It was smoky, earthy, citrusy, but the best part I didn’t taste the alcohol. I love to sip mezcals, rarely I have a mix drink. This is an Artisanal Mezcal and the price is great too.

I don’t think a mix drink should be the factor to judge a Mezcal. I can’t wait to try the Reposado and Extra Añejo.

This is best I have ever had, this mezcal is smoky and delicious because it is an artesanal delicacy and 100% Oaxacan. Prolijio also supports families in Mexico, and it is made with fresh products.

Deliciously smooth. Hint of a smokey citrus and earthy blend.

This Mezcal is smoky, citrusy, full bodied and smooth when going down; just like a real Artisanal-hand made mezcal should taste. Some people confuse industrial Mezcal with Artisanal, big difference. Prolijo is by far one of the best I have ever had and I am from Oaxaca, Mexico. I bought it in Pilsen IL for $43.99.

Almost zero nose. Very lite blonde woods almost like the twine the bottle neck is wrapped in. Strong alcohol taste that tingles tongue a little sweetness. Not very exciting. Hint of smoke. Hint of earth. The taste reminds me of the smell of fresh pine boards after it rains. For me not worth the 50+ dollar price tag.

Addition 10-16-18: after spending some time with this I am giving this 3* but only after adding some ice and lime. Also check out dates of 5 star reviews after mine. Very curious. Almost abvious.
