Agave Rhodacantha is roasted in an earthen pit, double distilled in a Philippino still made from copper and a hollowed-out tree trunk. The agave Rhodacantha transforms on the nose to an aroma like parmesan cheese with a green earthy touch.

643 reviewsHaven’t seen this brand around for a while. My bottle is more than half gone at this point so it has had time to “mellow out”. A few years back, it was incorrectly priced at under $40/bottle which is a steal for this tasty raicilla. Delicate at 44% with notes of milk chocolate, buttercream, and a bit of orange creamsicle. There is a slight toothpaste bite on the finish. For me, many raicillas aren’t something you’d return to multiple times in one sitting – this one is. It is very approachable while retaining some nice funk. The bottle doesn’t really have any batch info.

I was somewhat hesitant to try the Raicilla since it’s a bit more expensive but Puntagave says it’s their “In house favorite” so I decided to give it a shot. I was NOT disappointed. I haven’t tried a lot of Raicillas that I’m crazy about but I really enjoy this one. It packs a ton of flavor. Fruity, creamy, and a very distinct but pleasant cheesy aftertaste. I definitely recommend giving this one a shot.
