About this mezcal

Quiereme Mucho Tepextate is made with 100% wild agave Tepextate that takes 19-25 years to mature. This mezcal is traditionally made and hand-crushed by maestro mezcalero Wilibaldo Rodríguez. It has aromas of fresh herbs and root vegetables, and it’s floral on the palate with a wet and earthy finish. The ABV will vary by batch.

Quiereme Mucho Mezcal

Quiereme Mucho is produced in the San Pedro Taviche Municipality, Ocotlán de Morelos District in Oaxaca, Mexico. Quiereme Mucho represents a mixture of two local traditions: Mezcal and Alebrijes. Their bottles are hand-painted by local artists using ancient techniques to create magical figures called Alebrijes. Their mezcal is 100% organic, estate-grown on their 2660-acre hacienda. Because each bottle is hand-painted, they all look slightly different.

General mouth feel is very excellent for this bottle

Nose: fresh citrus (orange, blood oranges) show through with the strong vegetal note

Taste: outstanding, again the citrus/vegetal notes shine…..there a bit a of vokda/acquavit note in the bloody background

finish: medium long length, really I enjoyed this bottle very much…..

WhiskyVicky sez 84 for this bottle…..oh $99 in Berkeley California

Very fragrant and herbaceous nose mixed with alcohol, classic tepeztate flavors with creamy jalapeño and agave on the palate mixed with earthy soul, with a significant amount of burn. Middle of the road tepeztate for me.

Lot AA-32
Restrained nose, floral and wet stones. In the mouth it’s round and honeyed. The finish is short and tannic. There’s none of the vegetal notes I expect from a Tepextate. Pleasant, but somewhat simple and atypical

Lot A84: The bottles are very interesting and would be a fun gift. This Tepezatate is along the lines of Banhez, Bozal, for me but I found it at a Costco for about $70 so considering the price this gets a bump. Vegetal notes are there albeit not with the punch I get out of other more exciting expressions (Reina Sanchez/Victor Ramos). On the back end some pickled veggies and little tart/dry/sour. For the price – its a great find. However, if you’re in the $100+ price point you may want to consider another option.

Quiereme Mucho has fast become one of my favorite mezcals. I just picked this one up in MX and enjoy it a lot. I’ll enjoy sparingly as this isn’t a brand you can find everywhere and Tepextate takes so long to mature, it simply needs to be enjoyed while also practicing patience!

Tart and floral first taste. I find tepeztates have a bitter taste I enjoy. There’s sugars and some grassy flavors with an agave finish. There’s a bit of astringency as well, another plus for me.

This mezcal drinks like a wine. Very complex and balanced on the smoke. I had heard there was an issue with a previous batch of the Tepextate, what a shame! Excuse my while I cry tears over what a loss that is. There has since been a new batch release and it is absolutely delightful. The bottle is beautiful, I’m thinking of making a lamp out of it.

If you love mezcal, you have to give this a try.

This is my first time trying this brand. Others have told me “the bottles are better than the juice”. Unfortunately, they are right. This agave Tepextate mezcal is vinegary and sour with a dry finish. The vegetal notes are faint and fleeting. Definitely tastes like a handmade mezcal just maybe too many tails included in the final product. This is a moderately priced Tepextate, but a brand like Gracias a Dios offers much more value at a similar price point.
