Revel Avila Blanco is produced with Blue Weber agave in the state of Morelos, Mexico. The brand considers Avila to be a new spirits category, named after their master distiller, Noe Avila. This is defined by the blending of both smoked agaves (similar to most mezcal) and steamed agaves (similar to most tequila). The brand smokes some of the agaves in an underground pit oven, steams some the agaves in an autoclave oven, and blends them together during fermentation. After fermentation, Revel Avila is triple distilled. Revel Avila Blanco is bottled without any barrel aging.
Revel Spirits
Revel Spirits was inspired by a passion for authenticity and the life-long connections of its founders, who became close friends and business partners early in their careers. While expanding their entertainment business and connections in Los Angeles, they discovered their passion for Agave and Méxican spirits. This passion led to the desire to create their own product, so they toured México in search of the right fit and inspired place. The company has partnered with some big names in recent years. Revel Avila is a joint project with actor and producer Justin Hartley.

Interesting enough story and claims about what the brand stands for – but wow just underwhelming and uninspiring juice. It tastes like any boring tequila (hence the “slightly below average” rating), and that makes me question what it brings to the table. As far as I can tell, just a marketing story, a confused identity, little if any personality, a bottle that seemed aimed at a market that doesn’t exist in quantity, and failed potential.
