About this mezcal

Santo de Piedra Mezcal is produced by Isaías Velasco in San Bartolo Yautepec, a town and municipality in the state of Oaxaca. The area around this village is known for wide variety of fruit that is grown there and abundant wildlife. San Bartolo Yautepec is part of the Yautepec District in the east of the Sierra Sur Region. This mezcal is made with ten-year-old agave Espadin plants grown in the region of San Luis del Rio and twice distilled in a copper pot still. It is produced in tiny batches of 100 bottles, each of which is handmade using recycled glass. This mezcal is fruit-forward with fresh peach and guava notes and a finish of earthy smoke.

Hard to believe this is an espadin

Def. get a smoothness that usually isnt present in wilder agaves. Like others have said, very mineral, clean, slightly sweet and floral. Not much smoke, almost borders on a complex blanco tequila. Solid AF

This is one of my absolute favourites. It’s truly unique, interesting and delicious.

If you could buy minerality in a bottle it would smell like this. It smells like soil and wet gravel after the rain. Forest floor and a hint of cherries.

Dark chocolate on the palate.
