Just flat very good. Good amount of heat. Nice espadin flavor but with a notable sweetness and pivot in the middle. Probably the best pechuga I’ve had.
T-2 of 4 tried at Limantour in CDMX.
Quality, inoffensive, but truly nothing special. A bit thin on the tongue.

Has a fun funkiness to the taste but ends a bit bitter for my taste. Still a very good Mezcal.

A great option for a funky and hot mezcal that still is awesomely smooth.

Very pleasant wood heavy smoke smell. Extremely light and drinkable. A bit thin in mouth feel. Very traditional smoke flavor, with pretty light heat and tingle.
Great value, very middle of the road but cleanly executed.

Am I crazy for finding this to be a kinda cheap party trick? VERY heavy on the toasted corn on the nose. Comes across as buttered popcorn jelly bean. Taste is like a pretty meh mezcal without a ton to write home about. Drinkable for sure but not something I’d rush back to.
2017 Harvest.
Quite unique and distinct flavor that moves a bit throughout. Lacks a traditional smoke in the after taste that i enjoy. Definitely earthy and vegetal like others have said. Definitely not my favorite, but has its purpose.
One of the most pleasant noses I’ve ever smelt. A balanced rich sweet smoke that is just delightful.
Definitely a bit thin on the palate, without the punch you might expect. The end result is really a pleasant sipping mezcal you probably will finish too fast.
Nose: slow building rich and sweet notes. Candied bacon. Palate: Some earthy notes. Some richness. Licorice lingering. A small amount of lasting tartness. Good strong and unique flavor. A fun mezcal.
Nose: very standard acetone/white erase marker I have found in many espadins, not overpowering. Palate: thinner texture that leads to a quick sharpness. First sip felt closest to a tequila that I have tasted in a mezcal. Has zip and some lasting burn. Not much flavor beyond. Relatively plain. Maybe good for a tequila lovers intro to mezcal.

Bottle has a blue tint, but even after pouring mezcal looks like it maybe has a blue tint. Strong up front with slight sweetness and a burn which lingers. Hints of licorice come through. Haven’t tried other Madre Cuixe, but it feels like this representation feels like it let’s a unique flavor come through. Very good.

Jarquin. 50.3% shows through in the nose with a very alcoholic smell. Thicker texture with a subtle sweetness on the palate. Not a super noticeable smoke but has a really nice and lingering burn. Overall is surprisingly enjoyable given the nose.
Batch: E-22-E-19
Has traditional Espadín mezcal flavors, with sweetness and relatively prominent smoke. Does feel a bit thinner/watery and has a slight tequila taste. For the price this is a straightforward tasting mezcal. Good.
Batch:
A simple and traditional mezcal flavor on the nose with noticeable smoke and sweetness. A bit bitter initially followed by a relatively plain heat with good long lasting burn. Nothing elaborate in terms of flavor but a solid sipper with a simple but reasonable flavor.
Batch: 02149
Very strong and vibrant sweetness and floral smell that bleeds a bit into an expo marker-ish smell. Very unique and EXTREMELY strong and wild flavors on the palate. Maybe even biscuits/yeasty, a bit funky. Overall is very smooth for 48.9%. This is the Mr. Toad’s Wild Ride of Mezcal. Definitely would drink again. Very good.
Batch: DSOOXB-J Nov. 2017
Lovely smoke and clay on the nose. Hot and bitter but some richness on the palate that gives way to a nice lingering richness. Not best sipper but not bad for the price.
Batch: VID-195
Strong and sweet vanilla on the nose. Some alcohol smell underneath the sweetness. Hard to describe taste but it is somewhat smooth and enjoyable. Not overly complex. Very strong and lasting burn. Really good.
Batch: RD4540
Sweet up front taste. Slight bitterness in the smoke. Good, balanced and lasting burn that is very pleasant. Very smooth for a 49%. Enjoyable. Good.
Batch: 20-SJR
Alcoholy bite on the palette. Smoke is overwhelmed by that taste. Lacks sweetness or richness. Tastes more similar to a tequila. There are definitely better sipping mezcals in this price range. Not good.
Batch: YJ03-19
Tastes very watered down. Not great. Watered down aspect does make it drinkable for beginners.
