A bit dry and closed. A nice creamy lemon note throughout and minerals in the finish. Kept hoping it would open up show more.
Bubblegum, flowers, and stones on the nose – dryer sheets is dead on. Palate follows the nose. Finish is long and pleasant resolving into a lingering impression of crushed stone.
Nose: Snow peas (nicked that but it’s dead on), bell pepper, wet stones. Adds some cream cheese frosting on the palate. Jalapeno and minerality na medium finish.
Easy drinking. Lightly floral and mineral on the nose. Nice cooked agave on the palate. Medium finish that adds some earth.
Lot A-02-C- 20
Banana esters, caramel, and mint on the nose. Sweet cooked agave, juicy fruit gum, and a nice heat on the tongue. Earthy mint comes in on the finish.
Batch lot R003
Light, racy. Mint, juicy fruit gum, wet stones, cream cheese. Pleasant but lacking some heft.
Mineral & butterscotch on the nose. Dried peppers, pine and agave sweetness in the mouth. Warm finish that dries out slightly ashy.
Espadin, Mexicano, & Tobasiche
Spice and citrus on the nose. Meaty and salty on the tongue. Round with a nice balance of sweet and savory. Finish is warm and slightly bitter.
Pleasant esters on the nose, banana and bubblegum. Soft and sweet on the palate with added notes of honey and flowers. Medium finish that stays sweet. Balanced and delicious throughout
Round with sweet agave notes and some wet stones on the finish. Pleasant but not exciting or memorable.
Pine, vanilla, and wet stone on the nose. Round and sweet in the mouth. Medium finish with the pine and vanilla drifting a touch to the chemical side but not so much to be unpleasant.
Edition 24 from 2018
Wet stones and fruit on the nose. On the palate cooked agave, blueberry, and black pepper. Some cinnamon on a fairly short finish. Liked this more than I expected.
Nose of wet concrete. Palate adds cooked agave and vanilla. Wet concrete comes back on the finish. Added an extra half star for the price. Drinks very easy.
Harvest 2019, batch 2
My first sotol. Wet concrete and earth on the nose. Brings in some lime, mint, and pepper on the palate. More of the same in the medium finish.
On the nose, vanilla and sweet almond. In the mouth it’s round, gently sweet and brings in some floral notes. Finish lingers with just a little heat and a final kick of almond.
Lanolin and sweet lemon on the nose. Subtle vegetal, spice and pepper on the palate. Round mouthful, nice finish with some gentle heat.
Clean nose with smell of rain and citrus. Palate brings some sweet agave and floral notes and a smooth, soft mouth feel. Jalepeno and mint on the finish. Very balanced, gentle smoke, very good but nothing stands out.
Nose: leather and spice
Palate: sharp with not much sweetness
Finish: mildly bitter and astringent
Not an easy drinker but interesting
On the nose I get bubblegum, overripe fruit, and heavy floral scents.
Mouthfeel is nice, not as heavy as I expected from the nose. More vegetal on the palate with some grass and jalapeno.
Finish brings back the bubblegum and some gentle smoke.
There are things to like, but the bubblegum note is just a bit too much for me here.
Viscous, round, and deep. Have to coax the aromas and flavors out. I get grass, mint, minerals, earth, and more. Pleasantly warm, light smoke, and spice on the finish.
