Mazot Palmilla

Aug 3, 2020

Nose is wet paper-maché, a little peach, wet paint, not so much barnyard funk that I’m used to with Sotols. The palate is giving me major Listerine strips with a subdued sweetness, maybe mango or guava. It has a dried coconut flakes finish to me. Definitely tasty. Not as mineral and green as other sotols from chihuahua.

5 Sentidos Sierra Negra

All of Alberto’s batches have a nice citrus zest nose to it for me, maybe orange or grapefruit. This one is SN05-18 Slightly dusty, more eucalyptus. Palate is a bit dusty too. but then it goes into tasting like chocolate covered raisins. I get quite a bit of acidity at the end. Big flavor but without any of the roughness that may come from other clay pot distillates. Soooo easy to drink.
