Loved this Espadin. Very minimal smoke, very minimal burn. Herbal aroma with some slight minty notes. Taste of cooked agave, mild earthiness. Will probably pick this one up again at some point.
Inoffensive, and that’s probably the best I can say for it. Very thin, very watery, somewhat unsurprising given the low ABV. Aroma is somewhat floral with a hint of leather. There’s just no character to this at all. Not good as a sipper, fine as a mixer I suppose.
Tough to review this, since it’s the only pox I’ve ever had, and probably ever will. Considering it isn’t an agave spirit, I’m trying not to judge this against the mezcals I’m normally sipping.
Lots going on here in terms of aroma. Something new each time. Coffee, chocolate, light corn aroma, kind of funky smelling, smells like glue at times.
Pretty full bodied, honestly more burn than I expected at the proof point. Definitely taste a little bit of dark chocolate, with some moonshine-like corn flavor thrown in there too.
An interesting experience, for sure.
A little bit tough for me to score this one, since it’s my first barrel aged mezcal. 2019, Lote MSR-001. Floral aroma with pretty minimal smoke. I don’t get much of the oak barrel either on the nose or palate, which I think is likely due to the untoasted barrels being used. Sweet finish that doesn’t linger. I enjoyed this one, decent sipper, and look forward to trying other aged expressions in the future with this as my reference point.
Honestly, this isn’t as atrocious as I expected. As others have noted, it tastes like a cheap tequila, not a mezcal. I’d probably add a half star to my review if this were a tequila.
Not a whole lot going on with this one. Sweet, somewhat floral aroma, and a taste that yields…nothing, really. Very watery tasting, sweet, no smoke, no complexity. I won’t be having this one again.
