The color is gorgeous, Liquid gold; too perfect to be natural? Taste comes on sour like a bourbon then minty and sweet and then earthy and dry past that, finishes very clean oak again questionably artificial it’s so prevalent.
Nose is sweet, diesely. Really dry taste, little sweet, pretty Smokey rubber mellows quite a bit through the bottle. I really don’t sip this one, the only one I mix. Buy it often for cocktails, fresh citrus, honey syrup and chopped Serrano, this thing really shines.
There is something sweet on the nose but I mostly pick up that blue cheese funk, not overpowering but prominent, some leather hiding in there. Taste is really similar rich, sweet, funky, the ashy char comes in late and finishes a little plasticy. Very interesting, in no way similar to the lesser priced tobalas I’ve had. At the price it will be a while to bring another home. Lot looks like tob-181, 2018 copyright
Pretty wild. Roasted Chile, buttery, rich on the nose. Chicken stock flavor really comes through, nice little alcohol heat to it, silky. The nose is really exciting, great price for a pechuga. Batch002 nomf193d
Nose is slightly sweet mostly rubbing alcohol, some smoke. Taste is about the same little nutty finish, decent heat for 42%. Hard to find a worse drink for half the price. DH-009 0637x
Fruity and some smoke on the nose. Pretty oily, flavorless, quick bit of heat from the alcohol 43% beats 40, slightest smoke aftertaste builds up through the glass, after a few like I smoked all night. Low proof bland. Cheap and good distribution are the upsides here. Lot 2719 nom 630x
Strong berry nose, slight vegetal. Very sweet in the pallet, touch of pepper. Exceptionally smooth, bit too much for me. Haven’t had many tobalas, but will definitely aim over 80 proof next time. $60 down south, worth the try but I don’t see myself going back to it until I run out of options. Was unaware it’s a Cuervo product, I can understand the subtleness for its marketability.
It’s a fine sipper for price lately about $30, first bottle I picked up was $60, but at 30 I’ll have another. Decent balance, subtle citrus, little smoke, smoke finish lingers pretty well. A bit bland like most low proofs.
Only the second tobala I’ve had. Vey sweet, very smooth, higher proof would be nice. Impressed, can’t wait to get another bottle. For the price it’s hard to find anything this sippable. $30 down south.
