About this mezcal

Mezcal Oro de Oaxaca Joven con Gusano is a common mezcal to see if you visit the state of Oaxaca. It is made using Espadin and each bottle contains a mezcal worm; “gusano” in Spanish. It is unclear (no pun intended) how this mezcal gets its pale yellow (or gold) hue.

Oro de Oaxaca

According to their website, in 1940 Don Jose Lopez Escobar, one of the best mezcal masters in Oaxaca, started making mezcal. His family shared his ideal of improving the Oaxacan distilling industry and in 1985, Mezcal Oro de Oaxaca was created.
