About this mezcal

El Recuerdo de Oaxaca Joven is made with agave Espadin. This mezcal is not made at a traditional palenque, but instead at the largest, most modern distillery in all of Oaxaca. This distillery’s goal is to “create the cleanest mezcal ever produced,” using the most modern technology, machinery, and tequila-like production methods.

El Recuerdo de Oaxaca Mezcal

El Recuerdo de Oaxaca Mezcal is produced by Casa Armando Guillermo Prieto, which also produces Zignum Mezcal, which is partially owned by a subsidiary of Coca Cola.

Does mass production on an industrial scale equals a bad mezcal? Not necessarily…I quite like this one. It’s a solid mezcal with good value. Notes of smoke, mineral and cooked agave. Dark chocolate on the palate. Great for drinks.

Scent: 3.5/5
Mouthfeel: 3/5
