About this destilado de agave
Mezcalosfera Madrecuixe is produced by Felipe de Jesus Cortés, who as of the time of this release in 2020, was just 22 years old. He grew up in the mezcal community of rural Miahuatlán alongside his father Margarito and brother Job, and he spent formative years working for Mezcaloteca, operating their bottling facility.
Mezcalosfera de Mezcaloteca
Mezcalosfera de Mezcaloteca is the exported bottling from Mezcaloteca, the famous bar in Oaxaca City that is renowned for their educational tastings. They source all of their agave spirits directly from producers in seldom-traveled parts of Oaxaca that are often hard to get to. They put an exceptional amount of information on their labels, and all of their releases are very small batches that exhibit the most unique characteristics of mezcal. Though only a few batches have been brought into the US, there are dozens upon dozens of different varieties available for sale at their tasting room in Oaxaca City.

16 reviewsReally enjoyed tasting this release at Mezcaloteca. Forward sweetness and berry notes, with a medium finish.

112 reviewsTasty green nose with hints of blueberry as others mentioned.
The taste has that great bright madrecuixe flavor that I love. Similar to the Vago from Emigdio Jacquin. Green, peppery, a little fruity and trunk-y.

A tasty madre from Mezcaloteca. The nose has notes of stone fruit, sweet tarts, blueberry, with hints of minerality, a little bit of smoke too. The palate emphasizes that berry note, but tasting much drier than the nose would indicate – followed by a hint of salinity and smoke. Nice flavors but the finish doesn’t last too long and it is a bit hot/boozy for my taste, thus 3.5 stars (if less boozy to the taste would be 4).
