La Venenosa Raicilla Sierra

Mar 26, 2024

12-22
Lot 46

Candied nopales, a little bit of burnt celery, that sweet funkiness that a good raicilla delivers, green peppers

Palate: sugary jicama, sour funk, a little bit of metallic funk and cambert cheese.

Finish: Thick, viscous mouthfeel and lasting savory taste. A feint numbing quality that makes you want to go back and immediately taste it again… and again until the bottle is gone. Whoops!

Rey Campero Jabali

Nov 22 Lot: DS034-?

I have always loved this expression, so I bought another bottle today.

Nose: sweet roasted pineapple with toasted almonds, hint of black pepper and ocean, candied jalapeños

Palate: still some mild jalapeño and tropical fruits, with a little bit of sea water iodine and buttered brie. So much going on which is what makes this mezcal so amazing and consistent every time.

Finish: lovely linger, kind of like hanging out after a concert and not wanting to go home at the end of the night. Good viscosity and oiliness. Baked apple on the end with crispy corn tortilla after taste.

By far one of my favorites and a pretty decent price point for the quality. I have bought bottles for way more that I liked way less haha

Maguey Melate Tequilana – J. Refugio Pineda Cruz

Mar 4, 2024

One of the best Tequilana’s I have had. You can taste the authenticity of the product and what tequila truly was when it was made in this fashion.

Nose: sweet agave with some roasted honeysuckle, green herbs, and a hint of earthiness

Palate: Tangy/sweet lime; roasted agave comes through wonderfully and you feel like you are a part of the roasting process without the smoke, hint of menthol for a slight second, more fruits and nopales.

Finish: Coats the mouth with warmth and sweetness. I will seek this bottle out again and would purchase many for my friends to have an introduction into what Tequila should taste like. Fantastic spirit

La Venenosa Raicilla Sierra del Tigre

Jan 27, 2024

I had this bottle several months ago and was blown away by how amazingly funky it was.
Nose- funk, cheese, dawn patrol on the ocean, green veggies, dusty rocks
Palate- smoky blue cheese blueberry cheesecake, orange peel, agave sweetness, and more funk
Finish lingers and oils the mouth. I can still taste this today and it brings me back to enjoying this underneath a backyard palapa in the extreme summer heat. One of my favorites and so unique.
