About this mezcal
Chinga Quedito Marteño is produced by maestro mezcalero Bezaleel Arellanes in the community of Santa Catarina Minas, Oaxaca. This community is known for their ancestral mezcal, which is distilled in small clay pot stills. The Agave karwinskii used in this mezcal were cooked in an underground pit oven, milled by hand with mallets, fermented with open air yeasts, and double distilled in the small clay pot stills for which this region of Oaxaca is known.

727 reviewsBatch from 2022. Fresh bright aromas of rose petals, violet, carnation, coconut, guava, and zapote. The palate is thick with notes of vanilla bean, maple, honey, cooked butter, hempseed, a touch of fresh mint, and smoked brisket. I’m not familiar with this producer in Minas, but this Marteno is really nice, with touches of clay but nothing overpowering the agave.
