La Niña del Mezcal

Cecilia Rios Murrieta is a freelance writer and founder of La Niña del Mezcal, a company that promotes awareness of artisan mezcal in order to preserve the traditional production processes and position it as a premium spirit in international markets. Her passion for mezcal led her to pursue certification as a Mezcalier, and later to establish one of the first blogs about Mezcal and the culture that surrounds it. For years, she served as the proud owner of this Mezcal line from Oaxaca and she shared her knowledge about the spirit through tastings and pairings, while creating alliances with other Mexican artisanal producers. On March 21, 2018, Cecelia formally announced that she was closing this brand's operations so that she could pursue her passion for Mexican wine. If you find a bottle of this mezcal in the US, it may be the last time you ever see it. Listen to Cecelia talk about her mezcal here: KCRW's Good Food - Cecilia Rios Murrieta: La Niña del Mezcal .

  • Overall:

Limited Edition from 2014. TOB-01. Bottle 628 of 1000. Fruit and lavender on the nose. Very well balanced and great viscosity. This has tasting notes of charred apples, tangerine, and watermelon. I highly enjoyed this Tobala and would absolutely order it again.
