Legendario Domingo Oaxaca Espadin

Nov 20, 2020

LDMEX-26
Nose: Medium smoke – not too sweet. Got some rosewater in there.

Palate: Initial citrus – more orange rind than sweet (sweetness hit light and faded fast). Medium smoke just like on the nose. Long burn – not a cheap alcohol burn but it let’s you know it’s there. Aftertaste is a tad grassy. On my second pull got a good bit of sweetness which was awesome. Solid espadin for the price.

2nd Bottle (July 2021):
Lote No. LDMEX-24 (Bottle 758/840)
Nose – Big orange citrus. Floral notes. Vanilla. Soft smoke.

Palate – Much more floral this second bottle. Vanilla extract. Fresh pancakes. Orange peel bitterness. My palate may have become more smoke tolerant since the last review, I do find this less smoky and better quality especially compared to lower end, industrial mezcals. Nice grassy finish and the smoke/heat ramps up some.

Bozal Ensamble

Nov 19, 2020

Lot No. 02619
Nose: More smoke than sweet. Slight ethanol. Cool mineral saltiness to it – reminds me of wet cobblestones at the beach.

Palate: Viscous feel at first. A stony bitterness to it. Pick up some lemon citrus but not sour. Awesome spicy smoke on the back end – jalapeno and mesquite two hit combo… BOOM! Nice lingering saltiness.

I dig this Bozal Ensamble and would buy it again.
