About this mezcal

Catedral Espadin is produced by Jorge Octavio Cardaz Cualtamirano in Municipo San Pablo Etla Villa, Poblado Morales, Oaxaca. Part farmer, part botanist, maestro Jorge combines tradition with science. He has built a palenque, alongside a plant laboratory in the mountains outside Oaxaca City. In the lab, five biologists work to find the perfect environment to cultivate wild agave plants.

This mezcal won a Gold Medal at the 2022 Artisan Awards and a Silver Medal at the 2022 California Craft Spirits Competition.

Catedral Mezcal

Catedral Mezcal has pledged a portion of the stock in the US brand to a nonprofit in Mexico entitled “Catedral de mi Padre Community Support Organization.” The mandate of the fund is for the betterment of the families making Catedral Mezcal in Oaxaca. The process has been structured so that the maestro mezcaleros receive equity based on their individual contributions of mezcal to the brand.
