Gusto Historico Tepextate de Flor is a unique batch of just 25 liters that is only available at Whistler’s in Austin, TX.
About this destilado de agave
Gusto Historico Tepextate de Flor was produced by Victor Ramos in Miahuatlan, Oaxaca. This is a unique batch that is only available at Whistler’s in Austin, TX. Maestro Victor’s father, Tio Pablo, used to make small batches of mezcal using magueys that had already gone to flower, which is not common as the majority of the sugars would have already left the maguey at this point in the reproductive cycle. That said, the mezcal produced from these flowered maguey produced a flavor that became a favorite for Tio Pablo. So this batch of Tepextate de Flor from Victor Ramos is an homage to his father.

680 reviewsNot your typical Tep! Very clean aromas: white sugar, lemon zest, and onion. The palate has that angularity of really solid Tepextates, with peppery notes, but also these very rich dark fruity undertones like plumes and dark mango. This is deep and robust. We (mostly) finished off the last bottle of this at Whistlers/Tobala Mezcaleria. Incredible batch.
