About this mezcal
Leyendas Maguey Tobasiche is produced by young Mezcalera Doña Maria Garcia Santana. The agave used in this mezcal were harvested with the authorization of the local community in the wild at about 10 years of age. The agaves’ quiote were cut in advance of harvesting to concentrate the sugars in the heart of the agave. The gorgeous maguey tobasiche is one of the many sub-varietals of Agave karwinskii which is cultivated in the rolling hills of Miahuatlan. Once harvested, the agave is roasted in pit ovens over a mixture of oak and mesquite wood. It is then fermented in Cypress and Pine vats for 5 days. This mezcal is produced with a single distillation on alembique copper stills with refrescadera.

Candied sweetness on the nose – banana runts, sweet tarts – very inviting! Follows through in taste with some definite heat and a punch. More banana runt notes. Overall soft and nuanced enough to keep you coming back for more with a welcomed sweetness throughout. Solid!
