About this destilado de agave

Mezcalosfera Bicuixe is made by Job Cortes who (as of Sept 2019) was only 27 years of age (as of late 2019). He learned to make mezcal from his father, famed maestro Margarito Cortes. This mezcal is made from maguey Bicuixe that were cooked with mezquite and encino wood. The cooked agave were milled by tahona and double distilled in a copper refrescadera still. Batches of this are very small. The first batch imported into the US in August/September 2019 was just 90 litres.

Mezcalosfera de Mezcaloteca

Mezcalosfera de Mezcaloteca is the exported bottling from Mezcaloteca, the famous bar in Oaxaca City that is renowned for their educational tastings. They source all of their agave spirits directly from producers in seldom-traveled parts of Oaxaca that are often hard to get to. They put an exceptional amount of information on their labels, and all of their releases are very small batches that exhibit the most unique characteristics of mezcal. Though only a few batches have been brought into the US, there are dozens upon dozens of different varieties available for sale at their tasting room in Oaxaca City.

Soft, smooth, sweet, slightly vegetal and creamy. A bit herbaceous like minted cream. A karwinskii party in your mouth.

Tried at Mezcaloteca in Oaxaca City.

Tried when Silvia came to Houston as part of Mezcaloteca’s Texas tour. Oh baby… if you like herbs and spice, this is your jam. Mezcaloteca can do no wrong right now
