About this mezcal

Sacapalabras Tobasiche – Espadin is an ensamble produced in the beautiful community of Santa Catarina Minas, Oaxaca. The traditions of Minas are becoming more well-known in the mezcal community, and the Sacapalabras brand is doing a lot to keep those traditions alive today. While each release from the brand may come from different producers, all are made in the traditions of this small community, mashing the agave by hand, fermenting with naturally occurring open-air yeasts, and distilling in small clay pots. Some batches of this are made by famed maestro mezcalero Eduardo “Lalo” Angeles. The ABV will vary by batch.

Both agaves make themselves heard, nose delivers peppers and bread, more mineral than fruity, farmyard, yeasty, beer, slightly acidic. In the mouth, the Espadin takes stage first with sweet-savoury punch, followed by herbal minerality.
