About this mezcal
Mezcal Verás Joven is made with agave Espadin in Santiago Matatlan. The agave used in this mezcal is traditionally roasted using a stone horno (oven), that is constructed of river rocks. The agave is cooked with heat from pine wood for 3-5 days. After roasting, the cooked agave are milled using a horse drawn tahona and fermented for 15-20 days in open-air pine fermentation tanks. No additional yeast is added, allowing for natural yeasts in the air to ferment the cooked agave. Once fermented, the agave is double-distilled in a small copper still.
Mezcal Veras promotes their mezcal with the simple phrase “Taste. You will see.” It’s a bold statement, but they believe a taste of their refined, artisanal mezcals are a revelation of full of character, while delivering a balanced experience whether you mix or sip. Their mezcal is traditionally produced in Oaxaca.

This one is very approachable. Smooth and soft.. then it opens up into a lot of sweetness as you enjoy it more. There are flavors of melon and honey candy as well as some graham cracker (as Jonny noticed too). It’s a tasty mezcal though a bit on the expensive side for $60 USD a bottle.
Very buttery and fruit-forward on the nose. Aromas of honey, pollen, cantaloupe and cashews. Balanced palate with more notes of cashews and honey, as well as graham crackers and a bit of cinnamon. Light and rich in character. Great for sipping neat or using in cocktails
