About this mezcal

Bruxo X is a post-distillation blend of 80% maguey Espadin mezcal and 20% maguey Barril mezcal. It is produced by mezcalero Juan Morales Garcia in San Dionisio Ocotepec, Oaxaca. This mezcal has a delicate nose of citrus and floral notes with peanuts and jicama.. On the palate there is citrus peels, fruit, chamomile, mineral notes, and light honey.

Bruxo Mezcal

Bruxo was created by a group of friends who love and honor the country of Mexico. They discovered the magic of mezcal, but above all, its people. Brujo is synonymous with shaman, wise, illuminated; and the “X ” in Bruxo then refers to the pronunciation of their origin lands, Oaxaca and México. Each bottle of Bruxo may vary slightly from lot to lot, so make sure to check your bottle for details.

LOTE: B1492
Very neutral initial nasal impact.
Jolly rancher candy melt down on the nose with trailing dryness.
Somewhat oily mouthfeel and warming.
Initially sweet on the flavor, almost mixed fruit roll ups. Chamomile, fennel and light citrus follow. This would gain a star if it was higher ABV, but at 40% it is missing something. Very light charred jalapeno pepper skin on the finish which also brings in more heat than was originally present. A good beginner mezcal, but with the minimal ABV, it might get lost as a mixer.

Can’t believe how good the quality of this is for the cost of it.

LOTE: I2992
Nose: Light on the nose. Not terribly smoky and the sweet component is subtle cherry lemonade.

Palate: Savory – not much sweetness in there. A dash of vanilla possibly. Mouthfeel is cool – a medium viscosity and oily. Smoke is very pronounced in the finish. Overall, the traditional agave flavors are light but the smoke is dialed up. It’s OK but I feel that a higher ABV could do this more justice.

First time having the X. I had the tobala which was definitely alright. This just came into Ontario. And it’s not an arm and a leg.
This is lighter but balanced. I don’t think there is a lot of Barril going on here but it’s good in a last word cocktail for sure. Also…It’s decent because it disappeared

This is the 3rd bottle of Mezcal I purchased on my brand new journey dunking my toes into Mezcal. This is by far the most interesting one yet. Maybe it’s the mixture of the two agave, I’m still too new. But coming from a big tequila background this stuff has character. Its a shape shifter. Fruit, a little licorice. The craziest part is after you think it’s over COFFEE of all things rises out of the ashes. I love the stuff.

Very approachable mezcal and at a great price point (in some stores). Sweet with zero bite – it has notes of tart lemonade and fruit roll ups. Definitely a good one to recommend to those starting out with mezcal that think all mezcal is pure smoke – this isn’t. Lot C2814.

Lot C2814. Very light and faint aromas of orange peels. The taste is also light with hints limes and grapefruit and smoke. This is probably better as a mixer but good to sip as well.
