Miel de Tierra Joven is made by Mezcalera Doña Teresa Rubio Murillo in the Jalpa region of the state of Zacatecas, Mexico.
About this mezcal
Miel de Tierra Joven is made with Blue Tequilana Weber agave that takes 8 years to reach maturity. This mezcal is produced more similarly to modern tequila, using a mechanical shredder, autoclave oven, and a copper pot still. There’s a faint whiff of smoke, which leads to notes of baked pineapple, raw pepper, and a light hint of vanilla.
Miel de Tierra Mezcal
Miel de Tierra means Earth’s Honey, and the name comes from the sweet, amber-flushed tree sap, which can only be found in virgin barrels made of fresh natural oak timber. Given the name, Miel de Tierra has a robust barrel-aging program and they also have several unaged releases. Their location in southern Zacatecas makes them a fairly unique brand internationally.

6 reviewsThe mezcal for tequila lovers? Typical Tequila characters. A hint of pepper but no smoke. Unexpeted creamy and sweet on the palate. Actually a nice sip but for an artesanal mezcal mechanisation is a bit high – that’s why it got only 3 stars.
NOSE: cooked Tequilana agave, honey, some grass notes, a bit of spice and citrus aromas
PALATE: sweet spices, a touch of agave, cocoa
MOUTHFEEL: round, creamy
FINISH: medium, sweet spice notes
