They implement the best fair trade practices where they work, and they have many efforts in agave sustainability. Their mezcals come from the different mezcal-producing states. They also have some special edition, small-batch mezcals. The brand also releases the Pelotón de la Muerte line of mezcals.

In 2021, the brand (under Artisanal Distillates, LLC) raised money via the StartEngine platform at a $32.7 million pre-money valuation.

Aromas of butterscotch, brown sugar, and starchy vegetables like carrots and potatoes. The palate has notes of peppermint (specifically Canada mints), menthol, sage, Vick’s VapoRub, jasmine, with a touch of anise. I’ve had other batches of Jabali from Don Tucho, which I didn’t like as much as this. This is a solid Jabali. No batch info on this sample unfortunately.

Nose: A hint of aged, cojita queso. Strong personality on the nose, the sweet, smoky vapors are very asserting.

Palate: A floral sweetness. Nutty and salty. Great limestone/earthy tones. Finish is long, smoky with a seawater aftertaste.
