Mezcalosfera Bicuixe, Madrecuixe, y Verde is an ensamble of three beautiful agave that are all in the Karwinskii family. This mezcal is 50% maguey Bicuixe, 40% maguey Madrecuixe, and 10% maguey Verde. This was made by mezcalero Emanuel Ramos in Miahuatlan, Oaxaca.
Mezcalosfera de Mezcaloteca
Mezcalosfera de Mezcaloteca is the exported bottling from Mezcaloteca, the famous bar in Oaxaca City that is renowned for their educational tastings. They source all of their agave spirits directly from producers in seldom-traveled parts of Oaxaca that are often hard to get to. They put an exceptional amount of information on their labels, and all of their releases are very small batches that exhibit the most unique characteristics of mezcal. Though only a few batches have been brought into the US, there are dozens upon dozens of different varieties available for sale at their tasting room in Oaxaca City.

87 reviewsReally liked this one but was not expecting there to be as much heat on this one with it being so karwinskii heavy. The verde is an interesting addition but at 10% it gets lost in the sauce a bit but still very good juice overall. Earthy as you’d expect but at $140/bottle, I’d prefer other Mezcalosfera products.

I don’t have many notes from this bottle other than writing 3.25 stars and “Spicy, too booze forward, some stone and mineral flavors but not very balanced because of the heat of the alcohol and overwhelming nutty flavor.”

46 reviewsWhat I liked about this mezcal is the Karwinskii forward notes, which for me included the slight semi-sweet nutty notes and a hint of spice. It opens up a great deal after the first few sips and tries to come to life.
What didn’t resonate with me was the mid-tongue burn, which at first is almost like sandpaper. I’m not getting a whole mouth experience here, and the finish is almost non-existent. This is my first Mescalosfera, and while I’m not giving up on the brand, this particular bottle is not something I would return to.

39 reviewsLove the nutty nose on this one! Nose is full of peanut, baker’s yeast, and leather. More leather, melon, and slate on the palate. Very saline and spicy finish. Not as lengthy as some I’ve had, but great nonetheless.

717 reviewsSweet aromas of peanuts, potatoes, and chick peas. Very nice on the palate. This doesn’t blow me away like some other Mezcalosfera, but still really tasty. It’s deep and bit dark. Notes of over-ripe mango, cantaloupe, and some sharpness on the backend. This might need to open up a bit, but liking this.

161 reviewswow!this one has a very deep, dark semi sweet quality.the nose is spicy and dry.the initial taste is mushrooms, mild black pepper and potato.the agave sweetness opens mid-way but is reserved.the finish lingers with leather and spicy tobacco.complex, savory and delicious!

661 reviewsEmanuel Ramos produced the 3rd Mezcalosfera export which was also an ensamble. This is a delicious agave Karwinskii ensamble. Mid-palate, minerals from the Miahuatlan water source deliver flavors of wet stone and salt. There is a richness here with leathery spice which is present in his other mezcal. This one has a sharp dry finish of carmelized sugar, lavender, and lemon.
