Lot RMM5-01. Nice clay, chocolatey nose that Real Minero can have. Hard to pick out the different agaves but they blend together nicely. Very approachable for a 50%. Tastes like chocolate tart, really rich. Big fan.
Pretty average mezcal to me. Nose is pretty muted. I get flavors of asparagus, green apples with some funk and heat on the back end. Least favorite from Mixtape Vol. 7
This one grew on me as the bottle went. It has a pleasant nose. However it’s lacking a strong finish and flavors don’t stick around. Tangy, sweet & minerals.
Enjoyable karwinski ensamble. Has some cherry sweetness as others have described with some of that light dryness from the bicuixe. Nice long finish.
Unremarkable. It’s not bad but doesn’t really have any distinct flavors. I’d rather drink the straight jabali
This is different from all the karwinskis and Tio Reys I’ve tried. Smells like dark fruit and clay. It’s delicate. Taste like chocolate covered cherries and After Eight chocolate mints and papaya.
Batch 0318RC. Beautiful nose on this, smells like a rainforest and fresh coffee. Tastes of dark fruits, creamy coffee. Loving these Guerrero releases. If you like this you need to try the Gutierrez en vidrio it’s a notch above.
I was really excited to try this one, definitely one of the better Rezpirals. I tried this against two other batches of tobasiche from the same producers at higher abv %, I preferred those but I really like this. I get the fresh tennis balls aroma. This has medicinal qualities, mineral, lemongrass and very rich.
Edition 1 2018. Bottle 2/96. Dixeebe has got to make the best mezcal I’ve had from Matatlan. This coyote is the Americana agave type. This smells like root beer, really pleasant. On the palate I get vanilla extract, sassafras and mint. Really soft on the tongue.
This is a pretty average espadin considering it’s been aged in steel since 2004. Nothing stands out about it. It has sweet qualities and not that hot.
I love the nose on this, so fresh and so clean, notes of candied limes and strawberries. Jonny’s notes are spot on, subtle lactic quality very fruit forward. I get cherry starbursts on this. You won’t be disappointed if you have a pour or two.
Not totally my jam, as others love this. On the palate I get the documented notes of markers, banana candy and sour punch straws. It’s not Smokey or hot since it’s rested in glass for years.
55% Tobasiche 45% espadin. Nose has sweet plantains and fresh rain. On the palate it’s soft, taste like cinnamon rolls with a spicy finish.
This is a pleasant sipper. Light, Fresh limes, Strawberries and cream. Crushable.
Was so stoked to see this bottle at Lone Star taco bar in Boston. This ones been sitting in the bottle for quite some time. It’s very soft and velvety. Notes of caramello candy and sweet nectar. This is divine.
2013, 003-MEX, Valentin Cortes. This is one unique mezcal, It’s similarities to single malt Scotch is uncanny! Lots of peat and smoke on this. Definitely worth trying this edition if you see it.
This is one tasty Tobala. This isn’t a fruit forward Tobala. The nose smells like you put your face into a bouquet of flowers, there are also notes of papaya. In the mouth it’s earthy, minerally, herbal with peppercorns.
This smells like what Madrecuixe would smell like in a smell’s dictionary. It’s got the bubblegum quality I find in most of Don Valente’s. I also get notes of cinnamon and lavender. The lingering finish is fresh rainwater. I can’t believe how many bottles were made of this, hopefully, it’s around for a long time.
Wonderful nose here! You can tell it comes from Mihuatlan. Chocolate covered cheries, green peppers and basil on the tongue. I hope to see more out there from Aniceto.
Tried batch 1 & 2 next to each other. They tasted a bit different but both really good. Batch 2 was the best. Like Rakhal, I got too distracted by the delicious agave to write good tasting notes. So much flavor and complexity. Stands up to some of the best Tepeztates on the market.
