About this destilado de agave
Derrumbes Guerrero is produced by maestro vinatero Israel Ríos Bucio in Coyuca de Catalán, Guerrero using wild maguey Penca Ancha (Agave cupreata). The agaves are cooked in an underground pit oven, milled using a mechanical shredder, fermented in open-air plastic barrels, and double distilled in a still that is made of a hollowed out higuera blanca tree trunk that sits over a copper pot.
Derrumbes Mezcal
From Oaxaca to Michoacan and beyond, Derrumbes bottles many varieties of mezcal that are made using different agave and production methods. They have spirits from different states in Mexico, and they bottle some very small producers that are not available elsewhere.

9 reviewsGetting that hazelnut, milk chocolate. Such a savory sip. Loving everything coming out of Guerrero, this ranks high on the list.

Review #8: quality milk chocolate, lightly funky, cream cheese, soft ripe melons. Very in line with Jonny and James’ reviews, it’s savory with a smooth fruit undertone. It is very well rounded and maybe my favorite from derrumbes.

664 reviewsClean nose with notes of white sugar, honey, slate, and cold granite. The palate has notes of watermelon, dark mango, overripe cantaloupe, and a touch of milk chocolate. Very nice and soft. Syrupy mouthfeel. Lot 1. Bottle 630/800

EDIT AFTER JONNY’S REVIEW
Yes to mango and cantaloupe. Not picking up any watermelon but that’s what makes this a magical journey.
This might be my favorite Derrumbes yet. A close tie for sure with their Michóacan.
Nose – savory cheese and fruit with honey, if that makes sense. Perhaps combined with slightly caramelized bacon fat. Flavors – sweet medium chocolate, honey, honeysuckle from the vine… but this is not a super fruity high ringing bottle… Just when you think it’s going to get very bright and minerally it goes to this delicious round cocoa-honey finish. It’s a beautiful pour.
