I really like the story and the videos for this expression, and the Mezcal did get better and better with time. I get some of the sweetness and baking spices other reviewers have mentioned but it finishes very salty and bitter for me. Like drinking salty grapefruit juice after brushing my teeth. Maybe I got an off bottle?
Whoa!!!! I love this!!! It’s got all those beautiful flavors that I love from Agave Inaequidens (Alto, Bruto) and no noticeable imperfections. I taste Granny Smith apples, blue cheese, and something that tastes the way a fresh can of tennis balls smells when you open it. When I swallow and let the air out of my nose I get an intense explosion of mint like taking a handful of spearmint Altoids candy and chewing them up, I love it!!!! The finish is very long and just a ton of mint, and some beautiful floral, herbal, and citrus flavors like lemongrass, lemon verbena, and jasmine. So freaking delicious!!!!
ACR046. I’ve tried multiple different batches of Coyote from this producer and some I definitely like more than others. This batch is excellent! It’s got this deep complex sweetness that I just can’t get enough of. Cinnamon, star anise, mud, hot apple cider, apple pie, Indica, redwood tree bark, s’more‘s, and blackberry jam. I could sip on this all night.
ACR033 ESP-A. First time I sipped this one there was an initial barnyard funk that reminded me of some Raicilla‘s then it quickly morphed into sweetness. Martinelli‘s apple juice, vanilla frosting, yellow starburst candies, clover honey, and orange Creamsicle. Some white pepper in there too. This is really good.
ACR052. Something animally like wet wool, and curing leather. Clove cigarettes, over ripe pineapple, burnt sugar, roasted peanuts, and boiled green beans. The more I sipped this one the more the roasted peanuts came to the front. This one’s super interesting and I really like it.
MGG-13C. Wow I got completely different tasting notes than everyone else! I guess that’s how the brain works though. When I first tasted this Mezcal I loved it right off the bat! My first thought was chocolate ice cream with raspberry jam. I love that combination! Also some caramelized banana, and Jamaican allspice. I’m a big fan of this one.
MGG-12T. Creamy and bright with a slightly bitter finish. Fresh jalapeño, vanilla bean, cinnamon toothpicks, crushed lime stone, peppermint oil, Listerine, jasmine, and coconut milk. Copper and grapefruit pith on the finish. Solid Tepextate.
For me this is a perfect Miahuatlan Karwinskii Ensamble. It’s on the same level as Mezcalero 22 and 16. Pound cake, vanilla frosting, coconut milk, Thai iced tea. This is definitely my jam.
Do they make any bad Mezcal in Guerrero? They must right?!?! I haven’t had any though. Pine forest, peppermint candy, ground coriander seed, carraway, Almond Roca Toffee candy. Yum.
When I first opened this and tasted it, it was all big flavors of smoked pork. I love bacon but not necessarily in Mezcal. After a couple days it opened up a bit with some tropical notes of Juicy Fruit gum, and dried apricots.
Whoa!!!! This is a monster of a Mezcal!!! So much flavor!!! Pineapple upside down cake, concentrated date syrup, balsamic vinegar with figs, unsweetened cocoa powder, old leather jacket, pomegranate syrup, and dark brown sugar. So good!!!!! I need to visit this Mezcalero for sure!
This is a delicious Mezcal!!! I’m getting a tropical vibe from it, it reminds me of a beach in Thailand for some reason. It’s light, fruity, and floral with jasmine, mango, fresh squeezed orange juice, satsumas, vanilla cupcakes, mangosteens, bay leaves, and orange blossom water. I love this one.
This one definitely improved after it had been open awhile. Chocolate-y and smoky with flavors of brown M&M’s, fresh banana, cigarette butts, river rocks, wood varnish, cedar, and mint chip ice cream.
It seems like this Mezcal is in every bar in Mexico. If they only have one Mezcal, it’s probably 400 Conejos. I don’t hate it, I can see why people who don’t like Mezcal like this one. It’s very “smooth”, no alcohol burn at all in fact. Not much flavor either unfortunately, some vanilla, a faint hint of burnt electrical wiring. Instantly forgettable.
001-SSE. I love this Sotol!!! It reminds me of fresh hot apple pie. Clove, nutmeg, allspice, cinnamon, and baked apples. I’m definitely buying a bottle of this. I added an extra half a star because it’s only $40 a bottle.
RI6751. Lavender, fresh ripe pears, vanilla, and cold butter. It’s pretty hot though with some rubbing alcohol notes that I’m not crazy about.
PH7157. This is a really tasty Pechuga. Brown sugar, mole poblano, vanilla ice cream, pineapple, chocolate frosting, and toasted marshmallows.
Didn’t get the batch number. I really like this brand but this is my least favorite expression. Cinnamon Toast Crunch, fresh cream, orange creamsicle, dryer sheets, and red Tic Tacs.
DS010-M. This one’s all over the place! I’m tasting completely different flavors from one sip to the next. Orange pith, table salt, vanilla extract, cream soda, olive brine, cayenne pepper, and caramel. Interesting.
09-08-2008. Wow! I did not expect to like this one but it’s really tasty! Like a dessert Bacanora. Cake frosting, and horchata. Yum. I’d love to try this at a higher ABV. By the lot number it looks like it’s sitting around for 14 years!
