Not an awful sipper; but definitely made for cocktails. Smooth, with notes of tropical fruits a hint of syrupy sweetness. Weak and lacking punch at 80 proof. LOT 34. Bottle 6061 of 7200.
A very smooth and mild sipper. A sweet and fruity nose with tropical fruits and subtle smoke on the palate. A nice sipper. LOT 010.
Some subtle smoke and citrus notes. I was curious to try a Cirial; but I found this mezcal to be disappointingly thin and weak. Maybe going with a higher proof as opposed to bringing it down to 80 would give it more body. A cocktail mixer. LOT # MKU099.
A crisp, citrusy, quality sipper with a creamy finish at a bargain price point.
This Tobala is an earthy, herbal smokebomb that goes down with a satisfying burn. A real treat. LOT: TOB-0418 Btl 337/360.
Nutty, smoky, and smooth with a juicy lingering finish. A real bargain as well. Batch NJE05-18 Bottle 2127.
Like other reviewers I could not resist grabbing a 50 ml bottle off the shelf. This sotol is very vegetal and grassy on the nose and creamy on the palate. At 80 proof it tastes a bit diluted; and lacks the distinctness and punch of south-of-the-border sotols.
A smooth, versatile, bargain-priced mezcal. Nice tropical fruit notes with a wisp of smoke. A pleasant sipper that also stands up well in cocktails.
I found this mezcal a bit dominated by its 48% ABV, and very hot on both the nose and palate. It does smooth out and offer nice floral and citrus notes. A real bargain to boot. BATCH YJ09-18 BOTTLE 4468/6890.
Delicious and smoky with plenty of backbone at 47.5% ABV. Layers of melon and tropical fruits with a long-lasting finish. Excellent. LOT SLR004/19 Bottle 357/1180.
I had the older bottle with a different label – no certification sticker, batch or lot info on the bottle. It is a clean mezcal with some spice notes and a nice smoky sweetness. At 80 proof it tastes diluted. I will use it as a mixer.
I agree with the other reviews that describe this as underwhelming. It’s not a bad mezcal, and has the expected basics. That said, it tastes diluted at 42% ABV, and for what it costs there is a litany of joven Espadins to go to first. Batch #OH-101. Bottle #4001.
This is an interesting spirit. The are layers of flavor that alternate from vegetal to floral to fruity. Very Raicilla-like – no Mezcal smoke, …. The Damiana infusion dominates. A higher ABV would help. It tastes slightly diluted at 42%. I’ll revisit this. LOT #01.
Series 2, 2017. Bottle 1/400. Exceptionally smooth with a light character. I had to check the bottle to see that it was 46.2% ABV. No heat and only the slightest trace of smoke. It evolves while sipping, with layers of subtle citrus peel and tropical fruit. Well-made and very nice.
A smooth, herbal ensemble that starts off hot but quickly mellows. A nice sipper. LOT M0013EB.
A very well-made Espadin. Clean and crisp, with delightful smoke on the nose and palate. Oily on the tongue, with notes of lemon peel and dried fruits that hold through the finish. This mezcal gets and extra star for being a win-win-win: It is a quality sipper, a solid mixer in high-end cocktails, and sells at a bargain price. LOTE/Btl: IL4760.
Fruity and sweet up front, giving way to a gentle smokiness with white pepper and vegetable notes. Very tasty. LOT ES-1608, Bottle 633/870.
A refined sipper with layers of flavors. This is a tasty ensamble worth seeking out. Batch 15-M 2015, Bottle 0411.
Clean and fresh-tasting. I assume this to be the result of the triple distillation. A very subtle mescal, with soft fruit and smoke notes. It’s good, but indistinct. LOT #16 / Bottle 3982
A nice ensemble. Crisp and clean with tropical fruits and mineral notes. A bit light at 37% ABV. I was given a 200 ml bottle as a gift. It had had no lot or bottle number listed.
